About Us

The idea of JangoCompass was birthed about 8 years ago over chai, tie biscuits and sutta at an irani chai café in Hyderabad. A friend and I were talking about our mutual love for riding and feverishly discussing the movie "The World's Fastest Indian". I wanted to start something with that name, however I did not know what. Fast forward to a year ago, when I decided to start a clothing brand inspired by my travels, Ted Simon (Author of Jupiter Travels), The three motorcycle documentaries of Evan McGregor & Charlie Boorman and the incredible journey of Burt Munro.

In the 70's or 80's, in hyderabad, the name Jango was slang for a person without direction, an aimless person, someone without purpose. The compass is to give direction to Jango, wherever he/she/they want to go. We agreed that this was the best name for our brand to cater to people who truly love travelling. Pick a direction and Go!!!
